Choosing Wrist Rest

Choosing the right wrist rest is critical for your health. Let’s consider some factor

  • Brand
Choose reputable company ( for example : 3M, Belkin ,Kensington).  I’ve been using Kensington’s wrist rest for 10 years, it’s still great.

  • Working area
The wrist rest must cover the mousing area or the width of your keyboard.

  • Comfortable
Each wrist is unique.
Rule of thumb is to choose a wrist rest which has soft material, and the height of the strip is enough to touch your wrist slightly when it’s moving.

  • Material
Wrist rest is commonly filled with gel, others are foam and beads.
Gel is amazingly soft and comfortable, but it could spill out after using for a long time.
Beads and foam are more durable, although they are harder than gel.

  • Type
Standalone (cushion) has only a strip, without the pad. Therefore its mobility is high, you can take it everywhere. It’s suitable if you have to travel a lot since it's small enough to put into any suitcase and backpack. Rest your elbow on it is also a good idea.

Wrist rest with pad : there're two types : wrist rest with mouse pad and wrist rest with keyboard pad. Those are suitable for home and office use since they're heavier than cushion. But you can't carry them along on the long trip.
